Same with waiting for a package to be delivered to my door. It says it will come between 12 and 14 but I still feel restless from morning until I hear the door bell and I won't leave home or do anything that I can't cast aside right away

My package deliveries usually say something crazy like 'between 9 and 16' and... There goes the day.

Ooof i feel you, that happens with one particular company for me too. So far have they always come around 15 but what if that isn't the case next time?

For this reason I'm trying to book appointments and run errands in the morning in order to be productive the rest of the day.

[–] JakeBacon@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

I do this too, but thankfully I've also managed to break my day in half so it's no longer "can't do anything all day" but "can't do anything else this morning until this" and "can't do anything after lunch until this".

I've found this solution as well. Unfortunately that just ends in my being mentally exhausted at 1pm and angry at myself for not getting anything else done.

I am inconsistent. Some days I can get everything done in the morning, be productive the rest of day and then some days, I am mentally exhausted by 1 pm. It’s frustrating.

This is why I like working early in the morning. I can roll out of bed and start my day as soon as my feet hit the ground if there's no down time. On my days off, the things that don't need doing immediately likely won't be considered before 10am despite getting up at 5.

[–] Jez@feddit.uk 1 points 1 year ago

This was the only way I could get essays done when studying, get out of bed at 5 and start immediately - nothing to distract. Now I have children I have to get up at 5 every morning so I can never study again 😭

It might also be an autism thing. I don't have ADHD and I do this. I have to make my appointments as early as possible or my whole day is gone to freaking out about having to go out, whatever the appointment is about, etc.

[–] vyvanse@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago

My mix of ADHD and anxiety always got me arriving way too early to appointments 😂

[–] Mohkia@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I do this so much and drive my husband nuts. I even do it with phone calls I know are coming in at a certain time. I try to schedule things earlier but if not I sit there the whole day and be moody and useless. Fun times. 😆

[–] seeCseas@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

huh, i honestly didn't know this was an ADHD issue.

[–] oocdc2@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Antici... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...pation.

This is an ADHD thing? Oh, I guess I learnt something about myself :(

[–] lumo@kbin.social 8 points 1 year ago

"Waiting mode" is a real energy killer for sure.

[–] WolfBearSheep67@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

It is an adhd thing, but it also depends on intensity. Some people with adhd have a worser case of this behavior than others.

I hate 1pm standups so fucking much

[–] balthasar1stern@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago

And then somehow still come 2 minutes late. I feel you.

[–] Awthatsnotright@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

It’s comforting to know I’m not the only one.

[–] aaa@vlemmy.net 1 points 1 year ago

Can this also be a symptom of something else?
