- news from anything but the usa, that's sorely needed.
- a general photography community, both for discussion and showing pictures off.
- something along the lines of /r/mealtimevideos.
I’d love a community related to making clothes :)
Basically r/sewing and r/historicalcostuming, but it could also include stuff like shoemaking, knitting, altering clothes, thrift flipping, hat making, vintage clothes, maybe also cosplays.
This is currently all in the creative community here but that one is a little too broad to my taste.
Wholesome (unless Betterment and Praxis covers that?)
oh, a word on ambiguous ideas/ideas that might be covered by another section: you can just shoot from the hip here and we'll try and parse out what to do about that
I think it depends on what is meant by wholesome, are we talking like cute pics and feel-good stories? If so, I'm not sure that's quite the role that Betterment & Praxis is going for
The one I couldn't find mentioned here would be /c/digitalminimalism. Here we could share tips and experiences on reducing screen time, using dumbphones, exploring minimal apps, and all things related to simplifying our digital lives.
Some community suggestions from Reddit that I loved to browse would be amazing if there are communities of them on here at Beehaw:
- c/programming
- c/programminghumor
- c/learnmachinelearning
- c/AIresearch - discussion of new and upcoming AI/ML papers
- c/CScareerQuestions
In case you missed it,, we do have a programming community already at !programming@beehaw.org
a witchcraft community would be amazing!! i haven’t yet found a good one across the federated internet and i have found the communities across various witchcraft niches are all very kind. ❤️
Retro/decades which would include posts, pictures and nostalgia from the eras we grew up in to recall/remind us of those special times that meant something to us.
As long as it doesn't just devolve into people posting hot photos of their parents/grandparents like r/oldschoolcool.
IdiotsInCars
Something like /r/Earthporn?
Lets choose a better name though, lol. I always cringe at the "-porn" subreddits.
An equivalent of r/ifyoulikeblank (suggestions based on things you already like), and/or r/tipofmytongue (for trying to find things you've forgotten the name of)
Something for amateur music producers to share work in, get feedback, kudos, whatevs.
There were some communities on Reddit that I quickly gave up on because they were either dead, or full of jerks.

edit: linebreaks are hard.
Japan/Japanese culture without anime/manga clutter would be nice.
I'm late to the party but one of my favorite places on Reddit was MomForAMinute, where people could stop by and share their news or vent or talk about whatever they need to and get internet Mom Hugs. It was such a wholesome place.
I really enjoyed the NoLawns group, and didn't see it suggested. Also, Travel was a great group to share pictures and travel tips, as well as ask questions.
Windows OS
And/or
Mac OS
To match all the Linux communities?
The windows discussions on reddit were always really helpful.
Or maybe just Tech Support.
Or an even more general "Advice and Help" or "Troubleshooting" hive, for any kind of troubleshooting.
There's already Operating Systems?
Yeah its broad enough to fit them all. We just need Windows and Macos user to post their stuff on there.
NFL/Fantasy Football! That's what will draw me back to reddit right now
Apologies if some already exist, I haven't thoroughly looked at at the whole list.
Personalfinance
Audiobooks
PCHelp

I'd love one for Crafting, but understand if you feel this is too under "creative" to qualify.
I feel like the creative umbrella covers so much that isn't necessarily what people are making and I'd love to see everyone's personal crafts: knitting, crochet, embroidery, cross stitch, 3D origami, sewing projects in one place.
I'd like to see beer and cocktail focused communities. Sharing reviews, recipes etc. Maybe just a general drinking culture sub for now until we get big enough to support multiple communities.
On that note maybe a marijuana community for those of us where it's legal who might want to discuss growing, different strains, etc.
Also climate news/activism.
What about Digital Art as subcommunity for Creative like Writing?
For painting of all things, 3d and so on
