Looks much cleaner, love the magnifying glass instead of the three lines.
Noticed that the "Saved" tab also says "Search" though...
Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.
Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.
Jerboa is made by Lemmy's developers, and is free, open-source software, meaning no advertising, monetizing, or venture capital, ever. Your donations directly support full-time development of the project.

"search"
... "also search" π€£
"Yo dawg, I heard you like to search"
The speed at which this app is being updated - and with quality updates - is insane. Keep up the good work everybody!
Lets keep it going! Until june 30 we will be ready for mass adoption haha
Ya'll are kickin ass with the updates! It's literally getting better each day. I love watching the progress. History in the making right here.
The last few days have been incredible with the amount of contributions pouring in. We had 13 first-time contributors in just 3 days, and the release before that was 14 contributors.
Magnifying glass instead of three lines was very much needed, thank you!
Yeah perfect !
Do I need to deinstall from the Play Store in order to run the newest version? The app won't update when I try to install the APK from github.
How long would it generally take for the app to get updated in the Play Store? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm not very experienced with APK's.
It's already updated in the playstore!
I think it's about one day for the app to arrive in the Play Store.
It's already updated in the playstore!
Hey!
I want to thank every contributor and developer for working on this app and to bring so many updates in such a short amount of time. :)
Got a quick question though: if I have Jerboa installed via the playstore, is it possible to update it with the apk? Or would I need to deinstall the app and install it fresh?
In case anyone reads this and asks the same question:
I just deleted the app on my phone and installed via the apk. Works fine now! I had some trouble signing back onto my account, but I guess that was because of high traffic on my instance
I can recommend the app obtainium to keep custom apk up to date via linking it with a GitHub URL!
Obtainium gave me a notification that a new release had been made on GitHub and with 1 click it updated the all on my phone to the newer version π
(I had Lemmy via the Playstore first, the uninstalled it and installed it via the apk obtainium)
Legend, I'm gunna give this a go
Legend, thanks for suggesting this.
Can't search comments for text (ala boost for Reddit) so:
Absolutely. I was so confused as to how to login when I first opened the app. I literally had to do Google search to figure out how.
Maybe I'm (again) overlooking something, but where is the "button row" below messages? I can't interact at all with messages, just read them and tap the "mark all as read" button.
Are you working on a fix for community links not working?
Not seeing it in either Play Store or F-Droid yet
Download apk straight from github
Post item thumbnail opens comments instead of pic/link
Edit: not consistent. Sometimes works normally
Thank you so much for your work. This app is awesome for the early stages and this update improved functionality massively. I have zero context of how to make suggestions for the app. I mean it in a constructive way. So here it goes.
In your inbox have a way to see the context of that response. Currently, If you click on it, it opens the entire thread and you have to sort through it to find your comment. In large threads that's a big issue.
Not sure how possible it is to make the functionality to be able to create groups of communities. For example, if there is an aww@lemmy.ml and awwww@lemmy.world and awwwww@sh.itjustworks etc a user can add all them as they find them to a multicatagory they created named awww... consolidating them from a user's standpoint but still keeping things decentralized.
Make an option for a user to set a default sort/home page. Like clicking home can be set to default to "all" or "subscribed" sorted by "Hot" or "Active".
Loooove this update. The bottom navigation bar is much improved, and the new icon is superb, now I can proudly let Jerboa live in my homescreen.
This app is starting to look pretty awesome! There's a feature I really want from Infinity for Reddit which is swiping between posts. Can that be implemented?
Where can we request kbin support?
Kbin is completely different software. You'll have to ask its creators to make an app for it.
It would be nice to be able to see images fullsceen. Particularly, those posted the the replies.
The bottom bar is much improved but it says search twice, the right one should be saved
"New users complain about discoverability, so we doubled the search functionality!"
~ Jerboa devs probably
Hot damn!! That one mighty fine update since the previous one.
Which was like 3 days ago π
Inbox Replies working!
Thanks so much for your efforts! This app is really great, and I'm really excited for the future.
Thanks!
Liking this app more & more with each update, thank you allππΌ
This update is amazing! Thank you so much for putting your efforts to make this app better.
How do i search for posts? Just upgraded to the new alpha with a big search button but just shows the communities I'm subbed to.
Try typing your query in the search field...
Does anyone feel stutters while scrolling in the app?
Yep, seems like there's been a serious performance regression.
Can the UI elements be made "tighter"? Example, hide the upvote/downvote and all other icons till the user long presses on a comment. Most lf the times people want to view the thread. That way, we don't have to scroll as much.
Isn't this already a setting in look and feel?
