"Well, it's a nuanced discussion and a journalist proba-"

The actor drew criticism in November after video surfaced of him seated inside a restaurant alongside friends holding stickers that read “Zionism is Sexy” and “Hamas is ISIS.”

"Oh."

Oh my god, who gives a shit what this asshole thinks? I don't care if he thinks Zionism is sexy or if he think Zionism is the worst thing to ever happen in the history of civilization.

Stop deifying celebrities.

Who the fuck knows?

I don’t understand how hard it is to not go out in public wearing staggeringly polarizing political opinions on your chest.

Like, ok, you think Zionism is hawt, but why tf would you want to so proudly tell everyone that?

People are fucking weird.

Because he is a child, a douche, and has money and attention. The only reason we even know who he was is because he was the worst actor in popular TV show with a good first season.

I wish they would have made the thing an anthology. Each season with new kids and a different town with a different high concept conspiracy thing. They are actually making their world smaller by drilling down and explaining the upside down. It's called stranger things plural, not that one strange thing.

Something tells me that True Detective's attempt at that might've spooked 'em a bit. 😅🫣

[–] partial_accumen@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I watched the final episode of True Detective Season 1 and was totally blown away. I see there are two more season and happily strap in for more. I get 15 minutes into S2 episode 1 and am very VERY confused. I go back to see if I accidentally started Season 3 instead. I watch S2 E1 for another 15 minutes and it has none of the same magic as Season 1. I stopped 30 min into S2 E1 and never went back.

People tell me Season 3 was pretty good, but I'm not sure I can overcome my disappointment to give it a shot.

Right in the feels. 😅🫣

And it’s not really even that strange. Turns out, it’s just a man.

Any one else notice that we keep having 'news' stories about peoples opinions? I was watching the actual news (don't do that much lately) and the 80% of their 'reporting' was getting peoples hot takes on what happened. Like, wtf do I care what some random fuck who was filling their gas tank up while you were on site 'reporting' thinks about some kids stealing shit from that gas station?

[–] Deconceptualist@lemm.ee 3 points 8 months ago

That sort of content is extremely cheap and nearly effortless to produce, and fits easily in the nooks left after all the important advertising has run.

[–] helenslunch@feddit.nl 2 points 8 months ago

Facts are hard. Opinions are easy.

[–] helenslunch@feddit.nl 16 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Honestly, who gives a shit? Stop worshipping celebrities.

[–] xor@sh.itjust.works 3 points 8 months ago

i'd have a hard time finding someone who's opinion mattered less, on this subject...
i think right now Israel is putting an insane amount of money into propaganda...

[–] dan1101@lemm.ee 11 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

I think it's dumb for actors to discuss these sort of things publicly and I also think it's dumb for the media to keep reporting on people's opinions like it's news. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they usually stink.

If someone is going to report on a famous person's opinion, they should also have to state their own opinion at the same time lol.
