Xbox is banning users for automatically uploading steamy sex scenes from Baldur's Gate 3::Baldur's Gate 3 allows characters to remove their clothes and romance other characters. It's getting users in trouble with Xbox Live.

Maybe Microsoft shouldn't have auto upload as default. Or they can disable recording on specific scenes like what PS 4/5 do. Kinda weird punishing users for their incompetence

"Sorry guys, I can't play with y'all anymore since I uploaded that clip of Astarion getting pounded by a bear"

More accurately: Xbox is uploading steamy sex scenes from BG3, then banning users who did absolutely nothing but play a sexy game that Xbox sold them.

Just maybe they shouldn't auto-upload stuff, or properly tag content coming from M rated games as M rated.

It would cut into 10 year olds feeling peer pressure to get into GTA though I guess.

Sounds like XBox is a console for children and not for adults...except I bet its parental controls for microtransactions are scant.

This is how walled gardens are bad.

Xbox actually has pretty decent parental controls.

I believe XBox is featured in frequently enough among the kids bankrupt parents buying microtransactions news stories to indicate they are or were inadequate. But the ESA actively fought regulations both about parent-controlling microtransactions and mandating warnings on ESRB and PEGI notifications.

To be fair, when I played Far Cry 5 on PC the real-money market was too readily available and the only way to turn it off was to delete my credit cards from Uplay.

If XBox can eliminate shopping pages entirely to make games kid safe (even from dark patterns) then yes, I'd call that robust parental controls. If the markets are still accessible in game but requires a pass gate to complete a purchase, I'd say those are mediocre parental controls since the game is still telling kids there's more fun to be had by spending real money.

If microtransactions are not blocked at all, or require complex access to parental control settings to opt out of one-click-buy, then that would be classified as maliciously shitty parental controls. It indicates the companies are capitalizing on accidental purchases and exploiting mental biases to compel impulsive purchasing (id est exploiting whales).

This is the best summary I could come up with:

It's these spicy scenes, however, that are causing Xbox Live to ban users when their devices automatically record and upload them.

In an interview with Kotaku, Daddy-Vegas said that the bans on his account were implemented "in 30 seconds with no warning or chance to correct the error" after his lewd clip uploaded automatically.

Xbox issued a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, where it recommended users turn off the "auto-upload" feature when they think they are coming up on sensitive content.

Sensitive content can be found practically every second of Baldur's Gate because the game allows players to remove all their clothes at any point.

"If this was a first offense, for example, we will remove the suspension and let players know why it happened and how to avoid future issues (e.g. how to turn off auto-upload when sensitive content is being captured)."

Xbox added that a moderator views each clip for violations of its safety and content policies before taking action.

The original article contains 487 words, the summary contains 164 words. Saved 66%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

So Xbox is turning into Nintendo and just gonna be "family friendly" now?

[–] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 7 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Thank god the switch is family friendly, i wouldn't be wanting to accidentally play some filth in front of my kids. In our household we only play proper games like Hentai Girls, Hentai World and of course the thanksgiving family favorite Hentai Stars deluxe edition

[–] FlavoredButtHair@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago

Well you did just give me a reason to wanna emulate NSW games.

[–] IndyRap@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago

That burned them in the Kinect days. Phil had a big hand in correcting that so I would hope he has enough sense not to let it happen again.

Wait until the see what I can upload from Cyberpunk 2077. That game literally has a legendary dildo quest line.
