Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.

If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.

Same as it ever was.
Unfortunately it’s the nature of dictators. When they start to feel under pressure because of the economy etc they point over there and say “that country is the reason we are struggling, we should take their stuff, everything will be better if we do.”
Unfortunately this the sort of thing the UN should be dealing with, but they can’t because of bureaucracy / corruption / incompetence, take your pick.
So, no peace at all costs and appeasing countries with irredentist claims in this case?
We'll see. I think the hope is that strong words and troop movements will make Venezuela reconsider it's actions.

Venezuela renewed its land claims after offshore oil and gas reserves were discovered a few years ago.
While Guyana has its troops on high alert, the Brazilian army has said that it is moving more soldiers to the border city of Boa Vista, the capital of Roraima state, as well as bringing in more armed vehicles.
According to AFP news agency, Brazil's army has said it is reinforcing its presence in the region as part of efforts to "guarantee the inviolability of the territory".
A Guyanese army helicopter with seven people on board was reported missing near the Venezuelan border on Wednesday.
However, the Guyanese Chief of Staff, Omar Khan, said there was "no information suggesting Venezuela was involved".
