She could have said "I have no explanation for the events that happened" after the events, that would not be a lie, but perhaps repeating the statement over and over was meant as showing her clutching at something tangible in a crazy time...

Sure, but she destroys her own argument when she regales upon the events of "Carbon Creek." End of the day, the Vulcans have a lot of 'splainin to do.
