Honestly, WTF? Who and why? I have a feeling it's someone who doesn't understand how the app works and is blaming FairEmail for their crush not getting back to them.
who the fuck are you FairEmail and why are you preventing Scarlett Johansson from getting my emails? I'll kill you!
I truly hope the developer persists, because we need all the high quality open-source apps we can get. Maybe the EFF or someone can assist with the audit?
can someone enlighten me what prompted those threats?
New thunderbird app please be good... FairEmail is the best there is, but every few months we hit one of these critical points where the dev is about to shut everything down... and I am afraid the end is coming.
New thunderbird app please be goodβ¦
It's just K-9 Mail with a different icon.
Presumably they are going to do more than simply rebrand it.
Presumably they are going to do more than simply rebrand it.
Sure. Regular development is not stopping in favor of the rebrand. From what I've read on blogs, it's not going to be a total transformation, though.
Death threats for a foss email client developer. This world is truly full of shit.
Yet again, Google seems to be using security as an excuse to expand control over their platform. Funny how they consistently pursue the security changes which allow them to lock down their ecosystem
I recently switched to FairEmail. It's a really nice app and works much better than anything else I've tried. And it would be a shame if it were abandoned.
On the other hand, I have published a few things to Google Play myself. Google has made constant effort necessary to keep up with their policies. It wasn't worth the trouble for someone like me who just casually released things I built for my own use. I can't blame anyone else for deciding to step away from it either.
It is appalling that he also has to deal with abuse and threats for performing a public service.
This is why we can't have nice things. {sigh}
That sucks. I've been using Mailbird, but their recent push for purchasing 3.0 (and a yearly subscription for security updates) has put a bad taste in my mouth for it. I'm definitely looking for something else rather than give them more money now.
Weird, can't find the quoted text on github ...
Weird, looks like it was removed. Not sure what that means
