I would guess a combination of two things:

People who want to defend Israel.
People who don't want to give Israel guns, misreading the comment as implying we should be.

i.e confusion from both sides that causes downvotes.

Hey.

You're 100% right, and your view aligns very closely with mine. It's also very well worded; nicely done.

I'm extremely frustrated with the loss of innocent lives. I realize my meme is oversimplifying, but that is inherit to the format of memes themselves. In this case my meme serves to vent my frustrations with an appalling situation and to serve as a jumping off point for deeper conversations.

No matter the frothing at the mouth, anyone not directly involved in the decision making process of this 'war' is essentially powerless. We can pressure our governments to not fund a given side, but that's about the extent of it.

It's pretty fucking shitty.

I keep asking what these peckerwoods think would happen if the people THEY oppress started using the Zionist Defensive Feint("right to self defense/right to existence") to justify dropping chalk outlines of our settlers. Maybe, just maybe it's an alignment of ideology and geopolitical interests across the ruling class rather than genetics.

Maybe Jews were pushed into usury, maybe they're over-represented in certain spaces like Ivy League schools because they're wealthier on average, which buys a better education and more opportunities, perpetuating that wealth and success.

Pretty much anything the Nazis blame on Jewish genetics can easily be boiled down to class intetests without the weird blood libel conspiracism and insistence everyone they don't like is a Jew.

Any anyone joining this discussion, read that over and over again, because it's true and that's how it worked out. We decry this sort of thing, uh, usually, but it's OK because the Jews have been the underdogs for 2,000+ years? Maybe? I've always been a cheerleader for Jews and Israel. I really don't know what to think anymore.

To get back on point, here's what I'm seeing, when my eyeballs can get past the in-your-face genocide:

Got any sort of influence in the 1st world? Spoken against Israel lately? Still got a job? Yes, yes, no.

Sorry but that's bullshit. There are plenty of people who speak out against Israel (for example in Germany, of all places) who still hold their job. So there. Your anti-semitic theory of Jews from Israel secretly shadow controlling all governemnts is refuted.

Btw, when your theory is correct how come the media doesn't cover the bombing of Israel by Gaza and Lebanon? Most people don't even know it's happening.

When your theory is true, how come that UN can be biased against Israel and no one is doing anything about it? The UN found that 40 % of all Human rights violations since 2006 (!) have supposedly taken place in Israel. With competitors like China, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan that raised quite a few eyebrows but no one has done anything about it.

Also, simply to bring in some statistics, there are 16.1 million Jews worldwide. And 9.37 million Israelis. No one cares for this tiny minority unless they are battling extinction again.

What is more likely is that A you wish there was an easy answer, like one side has to be the bad one.

And B you are falling hard for propaganda. Propaganda is one of the only weapons groups like Hamas have in their arsenal. And it's not just Hamas who have an interest in Israel being gone. Add every other Islamic state into that mix.

That's because you ignore everything that has happened in Palestine unless it's connected to Israel.

It has nothing to do with "Jews controlling the world" or other conspiracy theories. It's that when you are living in a "western" culture you are more aligned with the culture of Israel (women's rights, rights for LGBTQ people, at least the hope for democracy, protection of citizens instead of using them as propaganda tools, etc.).

That is why many western politicians and media rather reluctantly call out Israel on it's war crimes.

Imagine when what many seem to wish comes true and Israel is abolished. The whole area becomes Palestine. Then we will have another country where people suffer under a religious zealot leadership. No rights for women or LGBTQ, no schools that educate their children to become free thinkers, no democracy or working for a better future, etc.

Unfortunately we can't condense 75years of modern Israeli/Palestinian history into a 2 panel Simpsons meme to explain that, yes Krusty Burglar is evil but Homer had previously committed several atrocities of his own including the rape and murder of The Burglar's family and is now throwing grenades into the audience because they didn't do enough to stop the Burglar.

But this is justified by the Simpson's religious/cultural beliefs, themselves formed in response to violence and trauma committed by others, and funded by the religious fanaticism of the Flanders family who believe the Burgler has to die to usher in the end times.

Should Hamas be hunted down like dogs? Yep.

Should you blow up hospitals to get at them? Nope.

Should you kill 10x the civilians your attackers did? Nope.

you've got to be a gymnast to land the mental backflip to suggest that Israel's response is reasonable. If the tables were turned, I'd be just as outraged.

Ok, so some basic guidelines for the acute scenario. What's your answer to living right next to your mortal enemies for eternity and one of the teams isn't even a nation state? Historically many such responses weren't quite so half assed and were acutely devastating but prevented such future skirmishes by eliminating Nation-states. In the era of organized terrorism, eliminating nations doesn't necessarily solve problems. It's Such an ugly mess. If you think rational decisions are going to be made during flare ups with decades of underlying tension, you are not considerding the big picture well enough. I don't have the answer, but I'll always come down hard on terrorism as it's exempt from many of the diplomatic pressures that have been proven to establish contractual civility at least.

Don't intentionally drive them out of their homes in an ethnic cleansing and steal their fucking land and kill them off every couple of years like 'mowing the grass'.

Maybe don't slaughter them when they try non violent protests.

Maybe don't have an apartheid state that south Africans that suffered under an apartheid state described as being worse than South Africa.

Oh, while we're on that topic, maybe don't give weapons to south Africa when the rest of the world is boycotting them for their evil, or test nuclear weapons with them?

Maybe don't try to ethnically cleanse your neighbors?

A war is won when a nation state is eliminated or surrenders. You can only defeat terrorism by eliminating all the terrorists which is impossible as long as an ideology persists. Not having a nation state status means things like the Geneva convention don't even apply to you and you have no head of state that can be taken down or map that can be redrawn, there is no feasible endpoint to your wrath and you are only as peaceful as your least peaceful member. This is a cancerous state of affairs. Terrorism and war are fine lines and I'm not arguing sides here as far as who's actions, present day or historical are More or less just. But yeah, I'll always come down harsh on terrorist organizations, they take wars that could have discreet endpoints and allow them to last forever.
