There is a secret coven of people who sort by new and make or break every lemmy post

[–] meyotch@slrpnk.net 2 points 10 months ago

The feeling of power I get from being the first upvote on a post in new, then seeing it later in top? Intoxicating!

[–] UnrepententProcrastinator@lemmy.ca 2 points 10 months ago

And we appreciate them taking out the trash. I've tried new when a younger me was on imgur and... let's just say it wasn't for me...

I always browse newest, not because i want to lift up new posts so more people can see it, but because i only get like 3 posts an hour in my subscribed feed

I use home, then after running out of stuff I switch to all.

I always seem to scroll to some squirrel hentai or some dude’s butthole the second a random passerby can see my phone.

I could hide NSFW posts, but that’s not a life worth living.

I must gaze upon humanity's most secretive chaos

All/new

No, fuck Active. It's like 2 weeks of old content.

Top 6 hours or Top 12 hours if I've been asleep.

[–] ImpossibilityBox@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Finally someone speaks the truth. Top 6 and top 12 is where it's at right now.

[–] Hubi@feddit.de 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Active is like two days max in my experience.

[–] registrert@lemmy.sambands.net 2 points 10 months ago

I tried Active, the first few posts are reasonable but suddenly weeks and even months old posts started showing up. I don't know what's going on, necroposting is hardly activity.

[–] Sombyr@lemmy.one 20 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I sort by active because the slower flow of content helps me avoid a social media addiction. I just check the few posts that hit the top of my feed every day, then exit Lemmy for the day.

Look at this bastard with their self control and healthy social media habits! Let's burn them!

[–] Asudox@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I never sort by Top. The only thing I see are just memes and shitposts.

[–] Zink@pawb.social 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

New is the best way to see content on a small instance anyways

[–] Selmafudd@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

Top Six Hour is the only way to roll. Unless you use something else which is also fine

[–] fsmv@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

Gotta read new on all because there's not enough content

[–] OneWomanCreamTeam@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 months ago

I only sort by top because I'm a bottom.

[–] GrammatonCleric@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

I have to do top hour because I'm on here too much 😅

[–] Kuro@lemm.ee 4 points 10 months ago

And here I thought hot was just the norm

[–] tdawg@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

Top is only nice when you first join a community. If you actually want to engage you should be on one of the others

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 2 points 10 months ago

Can confirm, this is me.

[–] maximilian@lemmy.ml 2 points 10 months ago

I am always on hot. It’s the best middle ground for me.

[–] 0x4E4F@infosec.pub 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I always sort by new 🤷.
