Unless its 40% of 40%.

[–] Jimmycrackcrack@lemmy.ml 24 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Well everyone knows you're supposed to give 110%

[–] notthebees@reddthat.com 25 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (2 children)

But then you get buffer overflow and it becomes 10%

Edit: integer overflow not buffer. I should know this.

Integer/arithmetic overflow. Buffer overflow is something else.

That's how much they want from you. What you should be giving is indeed, 40%. I could see an exception being for a sick family member or something but in general.

I think you missed the sarcasm.

My bad, I tend to take everything literally, especially in text where there are no social cues.

Doesn't matter if it's 40% or 400%. To an outsider we are always lazy and underperforming. No exceptions. And perception > objective reality in this hellworld.

The COVID-19 lockdown and furlough and the resulting great resignation demonstrates human population isn't lazy. We just don't like being paid a pittance to work in toxic conditions with management belittling us constantly.

But Das Kapital outlines how the bourgoisie will always regard us as lazy, id est, doing too little work and demanding too much.

This calmed my critical inner voice. Thank you.

This is how crunching your workforce yields 10% productivity. And yet companies do it anyway.

Also, now you're dead/burned out/need a vacation or are generally in a bad state. Don't give 100% of yourself to increase someone else's profits, your bosses raises/bonuses or even if you're self-employed. Keep some for yourself so you can use that to regenerate and come back another day.

Asking someone to give all of themselves for another's needs is abuse and shouldn't be normalized.
