Anyone have a good case recommendations for the 8 Pro? I pre-ordered one earlier this week and haven't decided on a case yet.

I sometimes go careless, but if I'm doing something where I know the phone might fall out of the pocket I like to throw a case on it.

I have used a handful of different cases with other phones: OtterBox defender, Caseology (Nano?), some Spigen, dbrand Grip and probably a few others. It looks like all of these are options for the 8 Pro but there might be a better option out there!

I plan to get the peak design case. Have one for my 6 pro and I love it.

Nice fabric back and adds mag safe.

Nice!

What mag safe accessories do you use? I was thinking about getting a case that had mag safe but I don't think I would use it.

Since I WFH, I don't really drive anywhere and already have a Pixel Stand so I get the higher wireless charging speed and docked features.

One of my buddies mentioned some additional camera lenses or a battery pack, but I don't see myself using those.

The only real magsafe accessory I use is a wireless charger at my desk at work.

But I also just love that it has magnets, on more than one occasion I've found it useful to stick to something magnetic. The other day I was fixing the dryer and had it pushed out and was using my phone for instructions, just popped it on the side of the washer and had it right next to me at eye level.

Peak design cases also have a little square on the back for their own products, I have the tripod mount which is pretty nice.

I switched to Torras cases with my iPhone 13 pro max and got another for my P7P. Works great, very easy to grip. I love having a kickstand made of metal that feels nice and sturdy. It also has great damage protection. I dropped my P7P on concrete while biking at about 20mph and the only damage is a very tiny scuff on one corner.

Seconding this! Got the Torras magsafe without the kickstand, feels very premium and sleek. What I did instead is buy the Torras mag safe kickstand ring. Nice to have it detachable IMO.

I'm starting with one of the clear Case-Mate ones from the Google Store so I can enjoy the Bay Blue for a while. I fancy getting something MagSafe compatible at some point though so I'll keep an eye on the options for that over the next month or so.

I miss the fabric case I had on my pixel 3. I loved the feel of it.

I have been using OtterBox but when I ordered the pixel pro 8 from the Google store I just added the case they offered-Case-mate. It was clear with a 10 foot drop protection. I haven't gotten it yet so I have no option on it.

Ah that one does look nice. I was trying to put my order in quickly as I have always had issues with placing the order as I need to sync it to Verizon or something, and I wanted to get an early shipping date so I didn't really look around.

I plan to buy two.

I've ordered (and received) the caseology parallax in bay blue for when I need super rugged protection. I also plan to order the Google branded bay blue case for when I don't, once I get my Google store credit.

I'm frustrated that my preferred cases (Spigen rugged armor and liquid air) only come in boring, dark colors. Why can't I have a Rugged Armor in Bay Blue? I've gotta put up with the noticeable extra bulk of the caseology parallax?

There were some good general recommendations here: https://lemmy.world/post/4079081

Thank you!

I only see two posts on this community on the Boost app so I missed that. There must be a setting I need to tweak.

I just went to https://lemmy.sdf.org/c/googlepixel@lemmy.world to see how it looks like from your instance and you're right, there's definitely a federation problem regarding pinned threads!

(but the thread I linked wasn't pinned anyway)

The pinned threads federation issue is fixed now (just needed to pin/unpin to let those actions be properly federated again):

Nice!

And there was a filter I had to reset in the app so that one is one me. I did think it was a little weird that the community only had a few posts.

It's usually something simple 😂
