I tried CS2 yesterday and it had better graphics but felt laggy during play with other players. From what I've seen online, lots of people feels like it's just not smooth, which is pretty critical for a shooter.

I'm playing in 144Hz but it feels like 60hz and i get frequent lag spikes.

You guys tried it yet?

Gamers nexus had random 1 sec spikes on their test. Seemed to be similar to my experience.

Seems to work just fine for me in both matchmaking and offline. Granted, I am running CS2 in Linux so my experience may be different from yours.

I'm also on Linux of course, don't want Windows crap. :)

Nice. Since this is a PC Gaming community, I just assumed Windows since the original post didn't mention Linux specifically, but it's always good to see a fellow Linux user out in the wild!

What GPU are you running? I am on an Nvidia 3090.

When you say it feels like 60hz, is it a consistent 60? You may want to check to see if your compositor is interfering. I've had situations where the compositor bugs out and refreshes slower than the active monitor refresh rate.

Also with lag spikes, do they feel network related or more like shader cache stutter?

I will try to play again and see. I'm on Amd Radeon 6800 XT. I'm not actually on 60Hz but it just feels like everything is lagging and being a bit behind... I will enable the frame counter and see. :)

Not sure if it's network related but I don't think so, got a very fast 500 Mbit connection and used to have like 6 ms ping in old Counterstrike... Not sure what I have now, but will check some more.

Does it feel like input lag or do you mean players are rubber banding and / or your shots feel off? If it's input lag, I would def double check your compositor settings. Also, are you using RADV or AMDVLK?

I had that too, like 30-220fps and very long stutters. I turned everything to medium or low and now it runs better, also HDR set to performance

Also seems like stuff loads as you play, so I try to cover as much area as I can during warmup to load everything in, not sure If thats a real thing but seems to have improved my experience a lot

I tried it last night and it felt like I was playing on public WiFi. Going to try again in a few weeks.

I noticed some hitching that I hope gets worked out, but otherwise it ran smoothly for me.

I disabled my CPU ecores and the shutters almost disappeared. I got +60fps (now stable 200fps instead of random 70-150fps)
