Back when you could actually have funny ads and not worry about people whinging about it online

[–] Wanderer@lemm.ee 30 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Society peaked.

Absolute foresight from the matrix to say 1999 was as good as it gets.

Send me back.

[–] SchizoDenji@lemm.ee 5 points 11 months ago

Ehh not really. Social awareness like for example the LGBTQ+ movement gained a lot of support in past decade.

[–] GeneralEmergency@lemmy.world 17 points 11 months ago

And here you are whinging.

[–] lowleveldata@programming.dev 13 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Nah people still joke about cheating. They love those sexual drama so it's fine.

[–] lostme@lemmy.world 55 points 11 months ago

Options much like the ones in those mobile ads

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 55 points 11 months ago (1 children)

TIL Brazzers has been in gaming advertising since at least 2002.

[–] Telodzrum@lemmy.world 53 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Video game ads used to be wild.

[–] loutr@sh.itjust.works 23 points 11 months ago

"John Romero's about to make you his bitch. Suck it down."

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

Oh, totally. I’m a child of the 80s and remember them fondly. I just thought it would be a funny comment.

Man, some of those ads were the epitome of sex sells!

[–] Sylver@lemmy.world 33 points 11 months ago (5 children)

All those bottom ads are crazy, too.

“Age 23: (sleep?) your way through the phone book. Twice.”

“Age 40: have a midlife crises for your 40 year old with two 20’s (in a hot tub)”

Age 100 something about spending your time reading books. Like the Kama Sutra

[–] Freeman@feddit.de 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Are you some sort of pixel oracle? I could not read that, even if my life depended on it.

[–] shukufuku@lemmy.ml 8 points 11 months ago

You merely adopted the pixels. I was born in it, molded by it.

[–] HairHeel@programming.dev 6 points 11 months ago

Given the year, this probably came from one of those “Playboy lite” men’s magazines that were popular at the time, like Maxim or FHM.

[–] Thavron@lemmy.ca 4 points 11 months ago

"Date" instead of sleep. Slightly tamer.

[–] irmoz@reddthat.com 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Age 17: Get lucky on the dancefloor and maybe in the bedroom.

[–] Thavron@lemmy.ca 2 points 11 months ago

Age 100: Spend your golden years reading books. Like the Kama Sutra.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 24 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Betting they didn't even code any of the buttons except join.

[–] VonCesaw@lemmy.world 22 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Ironically, that is the only option you cannot do in the Sims 2.

Screaming and Punching are both under the fight submenu, with Divorce being under its own.

Crying is fully autonomous, and they will do it for potentially the rest of their life.--

[–] Shush@reddthat.com 6 points 11 months ago

So it's like in real life!

[–] Endorkend@kbin.social 20 points 11 months ago

At least loverslab mods make this a reality.

[–] finthechat@kbin.social 20 points 11 months ago

Delete gym and punch lawyer

[–] Caligvla@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The Sims used to be so edgy back then, I miss it.

[–] bitsplease@lemmy.ml 6 points 11 months ago

It also used to be good. Man what I would give for a non-mtxn riddled modern Sims

[–] Norgur@kbin.social 13 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Join, punch, divorce
In that order, in quick succession

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 7 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Join, scream, punch, "finish" , cry. Dated that. Fun but never again.

[–] keefshape@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

This is the way.

[–] harpuajim@lemmy.ml 3 points 11 months ago

Fuck I loved the Sims 2
