I have used this theme for couple days;however, it does not looks good on 4k display and icons are barely recognazable.

While my monitor isn't 4k, you can upscale everything (in my 2x upscale made things too small, but if I had a 4k monitor I certainly would have done that)

Is this fvwm, or something similar? It's a great looking desktop! :D

Thanks for sharing! Finally, a real reason to use XFCE.

Yeah, KDE comes with an automatic wallpaper changer with the "image of the day", usually Bing or NASA are good picks.

No, just grey. I want to focus on what's in the windows.

[โ€“] Sightline@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 years ago

Same. In the past I tried doing the whole wallpaper thing but it always became a distraction.

[โ€“] nachtigall@feddit.de 6 points 2 years ago

No, normally I get fed up with a wallpaper very quickly, thus it remains grey.

I do, but I almost never see it because all of my programs are maximized.

Effort, right! That thing I'm supposed to occasionally do...

Haha some desktop background I saw on here.

It's Kim Jong Un on a cool looking industrial platform mounted to a hydraulic extender inspecting a reanimated Lenin with a reanimated Karl Marx in the background. The reference is to Juche necromancy, which is used as an internet meme for all the people in the DPRK who are claimed to have been murdered but then they turn up fine. The joke is that they're being reanimated by juche necromancy.

No. Still have the default xfce4-wallpaper for Manajaro. Never see it anyways. Always have browser open on all three monitors.

[โ€“] jorge@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 years ago

Yes, and without any icons on it.

No. I use EXWM, and while it's technically possible, it's not very practical. You need to set transparency in the Emacs frame and then use a wallpaper setter. I much prefer the solid color of a regular Emacs buffer.

Edit: Tried it out. It's not too bad.

xsetroot -solid black was about as much effort as I wanted to put into how my desktop looks. And besides, I couldn't be a 1337 hax0r if I used something more friendly looking :P

I use Variety to change my wallpaper each day. I have a wallpaper folder with a bunch of wallpapers, so it doesn't repeat to often. I (mostly) only pick wallpapers that are not to distracting.

[โ€“] Emberleaf@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Seconded. Variety is fantastic. :)

[โ€“] Fisch@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

I use Wallpaper Engine, or rather the Wallpaper Engine KDE plugin

[โ€“] dwzero@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

I use Sylvia Ritter's speed paintings as my wallpaper, set to change automatically every hour to help me keep track of time.

Kinda late to this, but yeah I use one very simple and undistracting background I found on simpledesktops.com: dark hexes

[โ€“] ASTO@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

eh, it is not my taste, but they are not that bad.
