Most other smartphone makers seem to have decided on having all of the buttons on the right side - power and volume ones too. OnePlus (and parent company Oppo) goes its own way with the power button on the right and the volume rocker on the left.

Ooops that foes NOT sound good.

When you press the power button, depending on how you hold the phone, you might also end up accidentally pressing the lower part of the volume rocker

When I press the power on my current similar sized phone, I have my long finger directly opposite, exactly where they put the volume.

IDK if anyone has experience with this phone, because I was seriously considering to buy this phone next month. But this seems so stupid I'm reconsidering now. Maybe it's something you easily get used to?

I got used to it pretty quickly, though every now and again I'll accidentally take a screenshot hitting power and vol down together.

Not enough to be annoying and usually only after a couple of edibles..

For context, came from an iPhone 13. Can't even remember now where the buttons were on that one.

OK I guess that screenshot function can be disabled? And then take screenshots with gestures.

Went and checked, and the key combo can be turned off, and there are two options for screenshot via gestures.

Sounds like a plan. 😀

This is actually kind of an annoying thing. I have an OP9 Pro and I take screenshots (volume + power) fairly often by accident.

It's not the end of the world or anything, the phone is fantastic otherwise, but it is annoying occasionally.

I do this on my 7 pro. It's a slight annoyance, but for my phone the trick is to condition myself to press on the volume switch above the power button instead, when I want to adjust the volume.

Thanks, but I don't get it? The problem is the volume button is on the opposite side, so not above the power button. I'm not familiar with the layout of the 7 pro.

I just mean, when you hold the phone you instinctively have your finger on the power button and audio button. That amount of force won't press any down. But when you want change volume, you also press power button by accident. Instead, to avoid this i try to place my finger on the audio slider(ring, vibrate, silent slide, so not actually a button you press) that is above the power button. As that also forms a natural place to place your finger. At least with the case I'm using.

It doesn't exactly prevent pressing volume when going for the power button though, so you have to be a bit aware of if you have the finger on the audio buttons. But for me, it most happens when I change volume, and not when using the power button.

Thanks, that was an excellent description. But it seems as the article describes, it's a bit of a nuisance.
