Holy shit. It only took how many years for someone to actually say the word 'liar'.

He should've been shut down the second Skeletor came up with 'alternative facts' on the white house lawn.

Not to be confused with the other GOP Skeletor, Rick Scott.

[–] Dressedlikeapenguin@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Rick Scott looks like he wears a skin mask like The Red Skull

I wouldn't be surprised if he has a room full of them that he took from all the hospitals he defrauded.

We could use a whole lot more plain-speaking among both our journalists and people in government. Covering up for fascism only helps the fascists.

Inb4 the apologists try to argue "bbbut trump hasn't been convicted of a being an insurrectionist!". To those people, show me where in the article that's a requirement:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Has he called her a nasty woman yet, or "not really my type"? That's how we'll know this is getting to him.

I wish a lot more prominent members of society - in politics as well as journalists - would call Republicans, especially donnie Bin Laden a liar. So very tired of the euphemisms in the face of egregious behaviors.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

“Trump is a liar with no respect for the Constitution,” Griswold said in an interview on MSNBC on Saturday.

Griswold and Trump were both named in a recent lawsuit filed by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), which argues that the former president is disqualified from the 2024 ballot under the 14th Amendment’s Section 3 — also dubbed the insurrection clause.

The Washington, D.C.-based watchdog group asked the court to find Trump’s alleged actions related to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol disqualifying and to bar Griswold from allowing him on the 2024 Republican primary ballot or any futures ballots in the state.

Griswold added on Saturday that she plans to “see this litigation through,” noting that she thinks “it’s good for a court to weigh in” on the issue.

“And Donald Trump incited an insurrection, and there are big constitutional questions around that provision as to whether he is disqualified from the Colorado ballot,” Griswold continued.

“So, we’ll see this litigation through, and ultimately I think it’s important for a court to weigh in to provide guidance.”

The original article contains 310 words, the summary contains 182 words. Saved 41%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

let me guess... right wing media is going to point their crosshairs on this lady in the coming weeks.

[–] YoBuckStopsHere@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Not her first rodeo.

[–] krazylink@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Let's say this goes through and they drop him from the ballot. What actually happens then? Does it just mean that he can't get their electoral college votes?

[–] what_is_a_name@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

It becomes a template for other states.

There are probably groups in OH, PA, WI who will file the same motion if this one in CO succeeds.

Remove trump from the ballot in enough swing states and he is no path to victory.

[–] atp@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (3 children)

yeah but he would never win colorado anyway so it’s more about the principle of the matter

[–] treefrog@lemm.ee 12 points 1 year ago

More like the legality of the matter. Succeed in blocking Trump in CO, it encourages others to do the same.
