Can someone with more knowledge than me explain what the issue was with this guy? Not the applauding of Rubiales, before that.

  • Why did so many players not want to play for him?

  • Why did nobody seem to like him even though he guided the team to the World Cup?

  • Why has he been sacked when the men's manager (who also applauded Rubiales) has not?

When I first heard about the players refusing to play for him, my instinct was to sympathise with him, especially when Spain were doing so well. It seemed to me like players not being professional and just doing their best for the coach.

However, I'm guessing there's much more to it than that?

How many managers can say their last match before getting sacked was winning a World Cup?

I have no ill will towards any of the Spain players, even less now seeing how impressive their World Cup was, but this is exactly the reason I was rooting against them. Vilda and the federation behind him have been an absolute disgrace, and I didn’t want to see it all pay off for them
