Y'all are going to make me cry. For real.

If I was told I couldn't post as much from this account anymore, I'd just make more and post from them. Recognition ain't why I do it. Upvotes ain't why I do it. It's because I love seeing this community active and alive! I love seeing people interacting with each other. I love seeing all the new people who show up going "Wait, what's happening over here?" and then start watching Star Trek, and I know for sure that's happened at least once. I love people learning new things about the shows they love as well. I've learned a bunch in the couple weeks that I've been here, I know that for damn sure.

Most of all I just love how everyone is nice to each other. Even when people disagree, it's done in a polite way. You don't see people downvoting people over differing opinions. You don't see people attacking people for no reason. A big part of that is the mods (who deserve all the credit in the world for making Risa the balmy paradise that it is) but also the people who keep ourselves in check and help each other out.

If anything, the meme should actually just be me giving gifts to the place that's made these past few weeks bearable.

I love all you guys so much.

Man I’m just in constant awe and gratitude for how many of these things you have! I’ve been Trek memeing for a while but most of these are totally new to me, I feel like I’ve been living under a rock. You’re a beautiful human and we love you! ❤️🖖

Hey, I've just been boldly exploring for many years. It's just time for this weary vessel to dock at home and share the spoils.

You are a beautiful person, I wish the world had more people like you in it.

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 4 points 1 year ago

Oh I'm not. I've got a lot of problems and I make a lot of mistakes. A fair few of them have been some major fuckups at that. I don't always do the right thing and sometimes I know it and don't even care.

I just try to be better when I can. I don't always win on that fight. But I try.

Risa is one of the few communities on lemmy that I subscribe to since moving from reddit that actually feels alive and active, and I love that.

Same. A lot of my subbed communities are still slow and growing (or kept going by 1-2 dedicated users), but Risa feels very alive.

I recently discovered this community and I'm enjoying it, but I have no clue what 'risa' stands for.

Risa is a pleasure planet in the show. Basically a planet that bases its entire economy on tourism and pleasing others. In all ways. Yes. Even that one.

[–] xusontha@ls.buckodr.ink 7 points 1 year ago

Especially that one

Beverly and Deanna can’t get enough of the man-whores

It was an "all things go" planet that was first discovered in the original series, and then all ships started using it as their shore leave vacation spot.

tl:dr: It's a popular tourist destination within the Federation; where normally staid and serious Starfleet crew go to let their hair down.

We got a u/stamets appreciate post going here?

Stamets, you have near singlehandedly made Lemmy my full time internet home. You keep me off the Other Place, and you bring joy and humor to my day, every day. Thank you for being a collector of humor and for distributing it in true Star Trek fashion, for the use of all. It's been a long road, getting from there to here, but thanks to you, our time is finally near.

Live long and prosper, Stamets.

No but seriously. Thank you so much, and thank everyone. I'm stoked I get to be a positive experience here and help people enjoy their time. The more we bring in the better. But we might as well enjoy ourselves along the way, right? Or... as someone much better looking puts it...

By the way love the Faith of the Heart lines. Always do. 🖖 Peace be with you, friend.

Oh, God, it feels good to be logged back in to this account. My .world alt just isn't the same, and I'm glad to see you back, too!

I love that intro. Honestly, it's my favorite trek intro.

Also, don't knock yourself, I'm sure you're just as pretty as Pike. Though that man is damn pretty... Lol.

Here's a blank template if anyone wants:

[–] wahming@monyet.cc 2 points 1 year ago

Cmon, I've blocked all the meme and shitposting communities. Why am I still seeing this post?!

Oh, because it was good enough that I subscribed to it instead. Right.
