I love that this is an American jet but they still have a flag of Puerto Rico as if it's a separate country.

Nice bit of irony there.

TBF they also have Hawaii, Alaska, and Guam

At least they're consistent.

But I'd say they should probably all be independent too.

Hawaii maybe (but even then they currently benefit more than they suffer from being a state), but certainly not Alaska. They can't even sustain themselves without help from the federal government.

I doubt the natives think the same.

but certainly not Alaska. They can’t even sustain themselves without help from the federal government.

Probably because its run as an extractive economy.

A lot of those are not country flags

Lt. Commander Sam Urato, a P-3 pilot of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, points to decals on the fuselage of the Lockheed WP-3D Orion 'hurricane hunter' aircraft representing the hurricanes it has penetrated during a hurricane awareness tour at Washington National Airport, Arlington, Va., Tuesday, May 3, 2022. Hurricane season starts Wednesday, June 1, 2022, and it's looking busy because every factor out there is pointing to another nasty year in the Atlantic. (AP Photo/Gemunu Amarasinghe)

Why are two of the hurricanes backward???

[–] Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

Southern hemisphere cyclones

[–] Knusper@feddit.de 3 points 1 year ago

Might genuinely indicate the circulation direction of the hurricanes. Due to the Coriolis effect, hurricanes on the northern hemisphere spin counterclockwise and on the southern hemisphere clockwise.

So, maybe they only took part in one hurricane season in the South or something...

Isn't the white flag with the blue cross the russian navy flag?

[–] Waltzy@feddit.uk 1 points 1 year ago

It's the Scottish flag.
