hey i didn't know prager u did python! they're just defing a variable (RACISM) and setting the value to a string (BAD)

[–] SaintWacko@midwest.social 16 points 1 year ago (2 children)

See, this is what's wrong with Prager U! Why would you use double quotes instead of single quotes for defining a string?

[–] diaphanous@feddit.de 3 points 1 year ago

I always use double quotes for output string, and single quotes for internal ones.

[–] snugglebutt@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Aren't they interchangeable in python?

[–] Sivecano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 year ago

Yes, but as someone with even a little pride and some c/c++ experience I always use double quotes

[–] kamenoko@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 year ago

Should have set it to None since PraegerU doesn't think it exists.

Racism is bad, though. It's unfair to judge something for something they were just born with, that isn't their choice. Please share why you think judging someone for their race (which they did not control) is ok. Unless you meant by your post that 'leftists' (I honestly don't know who you're referring to) think that racism is bad, and you do too.

I think you're mistaking a joke for an opinion piece. The absurdity that "racism=bad" is discarded as leftie logic is the punchline, actually.

The problem is that right wing jokes aren't funny. The right is delicate and gets butt hurt by left wing humour. Lacking critical thinking skills they assume that humour just involves hurting the other side, since they are hurt, and therefor just try to hurt the left and end up coming off as humorless dolts.

It's funny because it's so absurd. This meme isn't meant as a right-wing meme, but as a left-wing (or actually more a "reasonable people") meme. The PragerU image is making fun of "leftists" in such a dumb way that you can really only laugh at it. Honestly I'm having a hard time believing this is something they really posted.

Like when a comedian tries to ~~much~~ mock somebody else and the jokes are so stupid everybody's just laughing at the comedian

[–] JackGreenEarth@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

So my last sentence is correct?

[–] AGuyAcrossTheInternet@kbin.social 19 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Yes, it is!

For context, PragerU is on the right end and I wouldn't put it past them to release talks about how racism supposedly isn't always a bad thing. This meme is a play on that, I'd bet.

[–] natanael@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 year ago

They already did that recently in that comic for kids

[–] nothingcorporate@lemmy.world 23 points 1 year ago

We live in a post-satire world. I literally can't tell if this was a real Prager U slide or not. 🤷

[–] cloudy1999@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 year ago

Quotes around words are sometimes used to add more meaning into them or place emphasis. Prager, let's not mince words: Racism "=" bad.

Where’s the lie?
