I'm often in longer telephone conferences and like to play relatively uncomplicated, mindless games like 2048 or threes. Both of these are getting pretty boring these days, so I'm looking for new games.

Vampire survivors. Perfect one hand food game

It's great that it can be played in landscape too if you want to pay more attention to it occasionally

Minesweeper and various solitaires, which are decent enough to pass time.

2048 Blocks. Basically a 3D reimagination of 2048

I don't know if you'd call them completly mindless, as they're puzzle games of a sort, but both Mini Metro and Mini Motorways are great relaxing time killers to me.

Not really complicated, just making connections. A fair bit of downtime just everyone make their trips, relaxing music, simplistic visuals, easy to pick up and play.

I've been enjoying 4=10 lately.

Word Hero - basically boggle word find, but new game every 3 minutes and you score with 100 other players

Lato and Sand:box

Flow Free, and its spinoff games Bridges, Hex, Warps, and Fit.

The puzzles are kind of mindless and not that difficult, but I've really enjoyed it. You do have to pay to get rid of ads, but after doing so the user experience is excellent.

While not entirely mindless, I've been loving Void Bastards to wind down at the end of the day

[–] itsAsin@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

i am hooked to Crossy Road. (is like atari fogger, but better)

[–] Maajmaaj@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago

I actually need to pick up 2048 again just to help cement this subnetting bullshit in my brain.

I love the autopencil and statistics. The learning tools really helped me move up to harder puzzles.

I like farming games like Harvest Moons on emulators for when I'm bored.

Dots is entertaining and mindless.

I haven't played it, but holedown looks very promising.

My personal favorite is Egg Inc, though it's a slightly different genre since it's an idle game.

[–] riskable@programming.dev 0 points 1 year ago

Magic Survival. It's mostly mindless until late game when you really start thinking about how you could survive any given map for an hour.

Break free of your dopamine addiction.

[–] agressivelyPassive@feddit.de 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And then what? Stare on a blank screen for 4h a day?

It's my job to be in conference calls where I only listen for 75% of the time and there's nothing else for me to do except listening. And I find it easier to listen when playing around.

Doodling on paper is just as mindless, but that's probably okay for you, because it's "real" right?

[–] Ogygus@lemmy.world -3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Why don't you listen while you are working?

It seems to me you have bigger issues, that stem from a dopamine addiction.

[–] agressivelyPassive@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Maybe bottom feeders can't do that, but normal people can listen and play around at the same time.

[–] MargotRobbie@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Hi. I'd like to ask you guys to calm down a bit. Thanks.

[–] sirfancy@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I can imagine you also tell people in a bar to stop drinking.

[–] Ogygus@lemmy.world -3 points 1 year ago

Nah those people know they are doing something wrong.
