As the title says, at what point did you feel competent enough to join a band? I've been playing the guitar for almost 2 years now, and feel like I hit a bit of a plateau, and I'm thinking joining a band might help. At the same time, I don't really feel like I am good enough to play with others.

I listened to "The Unbelievable Truth" yesterday and one truth mentioned was that none of the members of Arctic Monkeys knew how to play an instrument when they started their band.

Just fyi

Close. The drummer knew how to play the drums. But yeah, the others were complete novices. That’s why their first album is a popular one for new guitar players. It only uses basic chords and techniques, because the guitarist hadn’t figured out anything more complicated yet.
