Odd situation...

I look at my fediverse sites using Safari. I have accounts on both universodon.com and lemmy.world. I'm logged in to both. I follow a community from lemmy.world and see posts from it in my Mastodon timeline when the community boosts the post.

If I click on a link back to a post on lemmy.world from the post I see in my Mastodon timeline, Safari opens the link in a new tab but lemmy.world doesn't think I'm logged in.

Here's the odd part...if I right-click the same link in the same post on Mastodon and say "Open in a new tab", Safari opens the link in a new tab but lemmy.world knows I'm logged in.

Am I missing something? Aren't those actions supposed to be identical? Why would Lemmy not think I'm logged unless I manually open the link in a new tab? Is this a bug related the lemmy hack that happened a few days ago?

On the browser has been a pain since yesterday. I'm using Liftoff and it's fine for now

Check out https://lemmy.world/post/1375042. Yesterday login status was wild, but it seems to be settled today after logging out and logging back in to all my clients.
