You can get on a motorcycle a lot cheaper than you might think, but it definitely helps to have some mechanical ability.

I've wanted a Ducati superbike my entire life. In my 20's I desperately wanted one. A couple weeks ago I realized I can easily afford one now. Unfortunately my wrists, neck, and back can't afford that seating position anymore.

There's a lot to be said for going fast on a slow bike.

I rode my neighbor's Harley the other day and I was so bored. I'll never understand slow heavy bikes. I mostly ride dual-sports now. They're wicked in the twisties.

The phrase that always comes to mind for me is "Oh, it's just a Harley." There's a huge world of other bikes out there that are way more interesting. I turned a friend on to sport touring bikes, now he's got two Kawasaki Councours and a Honda ST1100 (among other things).

Those are fun bikes! I've ridden both of them and enjoyed them, even when I was younger and all about crazy. I've been thinking about getting a Ducati Scrambler for a few years now. That isn't a sport touring, and not really related to your comment, I'm just sharing my thoughts. :)

What even is that? It looks like a beefed up Ducati Monster.

It's not worth it where I live. (Québec, Canada)

First of all, we have a national "auto insurance" where you can't sue someone in case of an accident. And the fees are paid through the license plate which is super expensive. And it's even more expensive for a motorcycle due to the risks. Regular insurance is also more expensive. So in the end it's not really worth it.
