The developers of Apex Legends have announced that they're going to be blocking the game completely on Linux platforms including Steam Deck.

They want a backdoor into everyone's computer who plays their game. What could go wrong??

I would not be one bit surprised if this is really being used for data harvesting. Anti-cheat is really just like an Android App trying to gobble up all your marketing details to sell to the highest bidder.
