You're right. This is pure FUD, and hopefully entities like the European Union see it for what it is.
They want a backdoor into everyone's computer who plays their game. What could go wrong??
I would not be one bit surprised if this is really being used for data harvesting. Anti-cheat is really just like an Android App trying to gobble up all your marketing details to sell to the highest bidder.
