Please also check out vegantheoryclub.org for a great set of well-run communities for vegan news, cooking, gardening, and art. It is not federated with LW, but it is a nice, cozy, all-in-one space for vegans.
We ask that the you have an understanding on what veganism is before engaging in this community.
If you think you have been banned erroneously, please get in contact with one of the other mods for appeals.

Welcome
Welcome to c/vegan@lemmy.world. Broadly, this community is a place to discuss veganism. Discussion on intersectional topics related to the animal rights movement are also encouraged.
What is Veganism?
'Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals ...'
— abridged definition from The Vegan Society

- Discrimination is not tolerated. This includes speciesism.

It should hopefully get better from here, and this should hopefully be the last drama post. Vegan news and recipes will be back very shortly, but it's understandable if you don't trust that after this.
I definitely like the food you folks come up with, vegetarian myself.
In fact, if you read this post backwards, you'll see a recipe for a really ripping lentil soup.
Which reminds me, I need to eat. BRB making 10 minute farro just for you guys. :)

+ dried cranberries, not sure if those are technically vegan or not. I hear spiders are all over cranberry bogs.

(2/4 kitties loved the farro, not down with the cranberries.)
Excuse me? You can't just open up my world to the flavor combination of "nutty and tart" without giving me time to prepare.
(That sounds amazing)
Nutty and tart and a little bit sweet... but I put dried cranberries on/in everything. Dried black currants too!
(Non-Vegan) Banana Bread (1/2 stick of butter, 1 egg):
I've been humming and harring about whether to block this community over the past week, but the sheer orangeness of your post has me convinced. Orange is the best.
I will remain for now.
Edit: do you usually keep your salt and pepper shakers on the stove???
They're both grinders and it really depends on what I'm doing. If its for a finished meal, yeah, but if I need volume for a recipe? No.
Family photo, the pot in the middle is my grandmothers from the 1950s, I inherited it from her and built out the rest when I discovered we had an outlet store. :)
Anything eater here, fucking love some vegan recipes.
