what Soviet Russia joke?

Do you mean the joke that was its government?

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Stems from an 80s comedian Yakov Smirnov...

One of his classics:

"American advertising is so confusing! 'We stand behind our furniture!' I come from Soviet Russia, I don't want anyone standing behind my furniture!"

[–] gedaliyah@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Or "in Soviet Russia, television watches YOU."

I think that's one of his.

I'm pretty sure they mean the Russian Reversal jokes, usually attributed to Yakov Smirnoff https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Soviet_Russia
