Trump's campaign co-opted the star’s song “Freedom” just days after accusing Harris of “copying” him.

May Beyoncé sue the orange turd into non-existence.

Honestly, he's trying to get on the bad side of swifties as well... if he keeps being a shit heel maybe we'll have a landslide of an election. I'd love to see him lose at a Mondale or McGovern level to just demonstrate how fucking repulsive the fuck is.

It just might bring back some political sanity.

Pissing off the Swifties and the Beyhive? Why not just go poke a polar bear in the eye?

[–] dogsnest@lemmy.world 24 points 4 weeks ago

Next thing you know, someone will say he raped!

[–] BestBouclettes@jlai.lu 5 points 4 weeks ago

Can't wait for them to poke the BTS fans too !

It's pretty clear that he has no clue just how much influence they have. I think he's stuck somewhere in the 1980s and thinks in terms of Madonna and Michael Jackson, everyone else never existed.

[–] conciselyverbose@sh.itjust.works 34 points 4 weeks ago

How many people on the planet do you think could meaningfully impact the attention on the Super Bowl?

Taylor Swift did lol. And not by performing. Literally just because she was dating a player and at the game.

He knows and that's why he wants it. He wants to be cool too. (And get those voters, because he thinks it works like that.)

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 11 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I suspect that Trump doesn't really know who she is. Someone fed him some AI garbage and he jumped on it.

[–] growsomethinggood@reddthat.com 4 points 4 weeks ago

Normally I'd agree with you, but do we really think the guy tweeting about Kristin Stewart and Rob Pattinson's breakup doesn't know who Taylor Swift is? Now ask him who Charlie XCX or Chappell Roan are, and he definitely wouldn't have a clue.

Uh, if MJ or Madonna openly supported a candidate, that would be a landslide election.

[–] kablammy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 weeks ago

Especially as MJ is dead!

He must be getting tired of Ted Nugent and Kid Rock. As far as I know those are the two main musical artists aligned with the Trump campaign. Maybe he should just stick with them or maybe he is also saying that their music sucks.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 14 points 4 weeks ago

Well if he was saying that, he'd be right for a change.

[–] mosiacmango@lemm.ee 7 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (1 children)

Lee greenwood, of "proud to be an American" fame as well.

[–] TransplantedSconie@lemm.ee 11 points 4 weeks ago

Hell is that song on repeat for eternity.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Suing the campaign staff individually could be far more effective. Don't skip trump but instead of suing some nebulous team sue the individuals.

[–] moody@lemmings.world 0 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Unfortunately they can't sue for that. The campaigns pay the major publishers for what is essentially blanket license to use the music they publish. Individual artists can't stop him from using their music because they've already sold or licensed the rights out to the publisher.

Now if he does it without paying for the license, that's another story.

[–] SirDerpy@lemmy.world 25 points 4 weeks ago

Fortunately they can sue for that. The Trump campaign didn't pay anyone for what is essentially license to use the music they publish. Several individual artists can and have already stopped him from using their music because he stole it, repeatedly.
