More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

I'm so curious to see how far this will go, especially if the police response is overwhelming as Starmer's indicating. With the cost of living crisis only going to worsen this strikes me as a stupid version of the Freikorps being driven by the post-WW1 German economic collapse. A racist lynching or the police shooting a protester could both really explode this thing.
Only the Freikorps went after Socialists, here the police isn‘t supposed to stop the Left but the Right. Also interesting but different. Ah, and I don‘t think the Freikorps were driven by the economic collapse as much as the Social Democrats.
Watch as Starmer's response is used to crush the left and appease the right.
What are you on about like seriously what aspect of his response made you think that this was going to be the outcome?
