Power mods. Many of the ones who ran Reddit's biggest subreddits like iBleeedOrange and Awkwardtheturtle were major assholes.
Major Assholes
Petty Tyrants
An actual human sex trafficker (allegedly)
You got anything more about that last one? I've spoken to most of these power mod assholes outside of reddit and I haven't heard a thing about that
One of the most prolific power mods of all time may have been Ghislaine Maxwell. There's quite a bit of circumstantial evidence to suggest so.
Edit: I'm adding a link to an objective, comprehensive analysis of the theory here

Any chance you can summarize the video? The way that girl speaks is incredibly annoying to me
Edit: also, I've weirdly never heard of the user they're talking about. I thought I had interacted with almost all the main power mods and power users, but apparently not this one. This has nothing to do with the conspiracy, it's just something I thought was interesting
I wouldn't be able to adequately and fairly summarize it. The mod being discussed probably spent more time posting new threads than posting comments, but was the first to reach 1 million karma, remained top 10 karma until 2020ish and is still one of the top ranking by karma even though they haven't posted anything since 2 days before Ghislaine Maxwell's arrest. This person isn't someone I ever interacted with either, even though they were a powermod of many of the top subreddits.
Interesting. I highly doubt it's GM behind the account. It takes a lot of work to get an account up that high and GM was constantly traveling and abducting women. Plus like why? Why would someone like her bother to cultivate a power mod account? Is abducting girls to sell not enough power over people for her?
Influence is the currency of power. As a power mod of the most visible subreddits she would've had a lot of influence over information served to millions of people. She was involved in the silicon valley tech bubble and all of her siblings had careers in tech as well.
Yeah, but being a reddit mod and power user, regardless of how big you are, is still the lowest rung on the power-having totem pole. I can't think of anyone that gets mocked on reddit more then mods. Maybe furries, but at least some of those mods deserve it. It just doesn't seem like the kind of power someone in her position would bother to have
Never heard of the last one. Context?
Awkwardtheturtle makes my blood boil. Though I suspect this is deliberate, which makes me angrier.
The fact that reddit admins never did a thing was disgusting.
It's be cool to have a limit of how many users you can moderate at once. Basically, you could moderate several small ones, or a few large ones. This would prevent a few people moderating all the largest communities.
