  • Google is currently working on Android TV 14 based on Android 14.
  • It’s developing the OS on its ADT-4 reference device.
  • Unlike with previous iterations, Google doesn’t plan to offer this device todevelopers.

Feels like the market is stagnating a bit. Nvidia hasn’t done a new Shield in what? Four years now? Any Fire TV is loaded with Amazon bullshit. Roku is decent but I’ve always detested the kneecapped OS. Chromecasts are sluggish to say the least. Besides the Shield, is there any decent enthusiast device out there today that will even run Android 14 once it’s available?

Honestly, my Nvidia Shield TV Pro has been catching up. I'm getting full banner advertisements for fast food on my home screen. I actually think the Fire Stick 4K Max is probably the best value right now and would be my pick if I needed another device.

I have 4 Google Chromecast TV's with the remote. All my apps are there, been using the 4k version since they came out. Mine never really felt sluggish or slow.
