Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.

Channel 4 presenter Cathy Newman is among more than 250 British celebrities who have become victims of deepfake pornography.

It comes as part of an investigation from the channel which aired yesterday evening, following an analysis of the five most visited deepfake websites.

It found that 255 of the almost 4,000 famous individuals listed were British, with all but two being women.

Among them is the channel’s news presenter, Cathy Newman, who said she felt violated on watching digitally altered footage in which her face was superimposed onto pornography using artificial intelligence (AI).

That’s awful! Where can these be found so I can avoid them?

But on a serious note, it’s kind of cool and also weird to mass produce this stuff when before it was relegated to one’s imagination. I’m not talking just the non-consenting pornography aspect but just this technology in general. We have a lot of growing up to do as a society.

Send me a picture of your face, your location, and your employer, and I'll see if I can help you find out exactly how 'cool' it is.
