I never understood the popularity. Mountain Dew tastes awful, and I don't ever remember any of my friends being into it.

Is it a meme, like everyone has it on their desk, but nobody is actually drinking it? LOL

I had always heard that it contained more caffeine than other sodas, so that was enough for most teens back then to want it.

Ah! Well, that might explain it. I didn't even realize it was a caffeinated drink, but my god, it still tastes terrible. 😂

In Canada it didn't use to be caffeinated (non-dark pops weren't allowed to contain caffeine, but things labeled as an energy drink were). That law changed a few years ago. Maybe that's why it wasn't as popular here back then?

That would make a lot of sense! If it was only popular because of the caffeine, and it didn't have any, that would more than likely explain why I never really saw it in the 90s.
