For many weeks now, rumours have persisted regarding Microsoft’s intentions to release a number of 1st party games – namely Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves

How was it a flop? It is/was huge, I thought.

It was a disappointment, sure, but it's not like the game is trash. It's just incredibly mid. And I thought it did extremely well on sales.
