This one kind of changes the nature of the joke with the edit to the words. I think it works better in this case because there’s kind of another layer to it now, but it sort of crosses a line wherein it’s more than just removing Heathcliff from the comic. Not sure if it’s been done before in this series, but this is the first time I noticed it at least.

I've done it before where I've changed the words slightly for a better joke. In this case, the option to go fully meta and have them make a joke about their never seeing him was unavoidable since the whole thing is about removing him.
