Once, our bassist did a rehersal with only the E and the A string just to prove a point, so I guess that's subjective

Every other sting is just a backup after all!

Personally I don't like moving my hand up and down the neck too much, I'd prefer to just have as many strings as possible so my left hand barely moves. Gonna need 24 strings now.
