I saw this post and wanted to ask the opposite. What are some items that really aren't worth paying the expensive version for? Preferably more extreme or unexpected examples.

You’re not wrong, my parents first child was a Labrador pup from a nationally known breeder (wedding gift from well-off uncle).

Dog had bird retrieval in his blood. Would often retrieve ducks that other dogs couldn’t find. Somehow came back with a live one once, thankfully the soft mouth trait was there as well and it flew off unharmed. Pup wasn’t too pleased they just let it go, but being a sporting huntsman isn’t trained into retrievers lol.

Very few dog owners have any reason for that type of hardwired instinct though.
