MODERATORS

Hello, Mlem Community!

Due to a recent post made to our community (which has since been removed by lemmy.ml admins), it seems that it's necessary to outline the rules of both this community and to remind everyone what is and is not acceptable here.

Rules

  1. Don't be a dick (bigotry may result in an instant permaban)
  2. Posts must be related directly to Mlem
  3. No low-effort / spam / meme posts
  4. No self-promotion posts
  5. No referral / affiliate links, personal voting / campaigning / funding, or selling posts
  6. No misleading or non-descriptive titles

This post, however, is focused on Rule 1: Don't be a dick

Mlem is an app made for everyone. We are an app and a community open and welcoming to all people and all walks of life. We don't judge you for who you are or how you were born, where you come from, or how you choose to live. That does not mean, however, that our tolerance is without limits, for if we tolerate intolerance, we will all be consumed by it. That is the Paradox of Tolerance.

If you come here and act like a dick, your post/comment will be removed. If you make bigoted/hateful comments/posts, you may additionally face a community ban that could likely be permanent. There is no debate about this, and if this doesn't suit your sensibilities, there are countless other communities and instances where you can go to vent your hate, although I doubt many of them would be more receptive. Such behavior is against this community's rules and against the Lemmy Code of Conduct, which may result in your account getting banned from your instance and other instances in federation.

For those who see such misbehavior, trolls, etc., please report it to the mod team, and we will take action as soon as possible.

The Mlem Community strives to be a safe, engaging place for all. Let's keep it that way!
