Like how Baldur's Gate 3 is based on Dungeons and Dragons.

I love how Disco Elysium revolves around talking and the occassional dice roll for checks. I love how combat is not thrown around willu nilly.

The DE world is originally a universe written by Robert Kurvitz since he was a teenager and for his collective ZA/UM, using/deriving from DnD mechanics. So in the game where they mention the studio of role playing game devs, it's a nod to their childhood.
