Elisa is currently the most popular music player from KDE:
https://apps.kde.org/elisa/
Apart from both being music players, Amarok and Elisa are not very similar. Elisa (supposedly) works on mobile too (but it is not all there yet), and is much simpler than Amarok.
The nearest thing to Amarok may be Strawberry...

... a fork of Clementine...

... Clementine being a fork of Amarok.
@Bro666 @rriemann @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I tried Elisa, but I couldn't get on with it. Amarok as been ported to KDE 5 and it is fairly stable, so that's what I use.
@mfraz74 @Bro666 @rriemann @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social Is Amarok still maintained? I thought it was dead. I used to love it but I had to give it up when I couldn't run it anymore.
@diazona @Bro666 @rriemann @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social there are still updates of the source code. There is a PPA for Ubuntu, but that hasn't been updated for a while. It is fairly easy to compile.
@mfraz74 @Bro666 @rriemann @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social Gotcha. Well, I use Gentoo so I would be compiling it anyway. Sounds like I should take a look at it again 🙂
