This dude writes stuff like this just to fracture the 'community' even further. Stuff like this and his graphene video just come off like whining and it does no good for anyone. There is no 'privacy community', its just a topic and people have differing opinions which this guy can't seem to wrap his head around.

Its quite the shit show and they should just stop.

He's literally asking people to empathize more, to give more personalized recommendations and to have an open mind. How is that fracturing the community?

There is no community and there never has been. There's only people that cling to the words of youtuber personalities like him and others who don't buy into it and live their own lives on their own terms. It really becomes apparent when he goes out of his way to make posts like this one, he is only in it for the revenue this argument brings. Especially when they're giving bad advice and spreading misinformation about other projects.

Gathering people around a central topic and creating a 'community' base on it is what reddit did so well, and in the end, why it ended up being so terrible. It just serves to create yet another echo chamber. When you're dealing with an esoteric topic like 'privacy' which has multiple different meanings to multiple people, grouping people around it is the equivalent of cyber suburbia. These topical communities are a farce and should not be something anyone defends.

You keep contradicting yourself, do you think there's a community or not?
