If horror movie characters acted logically the movie would either be boring or people would get up and leave out of frustration over shenanigans. It's a lot more engaging to have a character make a few mistakes which catches up to them than to have them do everything flawlessly and still end up dying because the enemy is just that overpowered/story is that poorly written.
