General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

Point is its irrelevant... Every country right left or sideways could say things got worse under their governance

Yeah but you've edited your comment that's not what you originally said

Yeah at your direction I fixed a late night error. Point would be it doesn't matter who governed, did things get worse for everybody everywhere all at once? Yup!

I'm pretty sure that it could only be the Conservatives that thought that in the middle of a huge cost of living crisis, it was a good idea to make a big, unfunded tax cut for the already wealthiest, whilst sidelining their own office for budget responsibility in an absurd attempt to hide from the public how much unnecessary additional debt they were taking on and how bad the economic fallout would be, sending the stock market spiralling and forcing up mortgage payments for years to come.

Pretty sure it would only be the Conservatives who would think that it was a good idea to sabotage the auction for building renewable energy so that we continue to rely on expensive and damaging fossil fuel whilst maintaining, in a crazy act of national and global self harm, subsidies for fossil fuel extraction, and advocate for increasing the number of north sea oil rigs and fields.

Think again. We have the middle left in Canada and it's the same shit

You have a party that's doing tax cuts for the wealthiest and trashing renewables in favour of fossil fuel subsidies and you call them centre left??!! I mean, I already knew that the USA only has a right wing party and a loony far right wing party, but I had hoped that Canada had a left wing party of some sort. Wow.
