Yes its just one of many instances. That description is mainly an attempt to summarize the kind of people and discussions on here (not that easy to describe in a short form).
Do you have any suggestion how the description could be improved?
Not OP, but maybe something like this.
Lemmy.ml is the flagship instance of the Lemmy software, hosted by its developers. The community on this instance is dedicated to leftist ideals and particularly interested in privacy and FOSS.
We dont want this to be a "flagship instance". The post linked by LunaticHacker above explains that.
Ok, then leave that part out.
