#Bitcoin #mining aided #Texas's #electrical grid, when the #bitcoinMining company #RiotPlatforms reduced its power usage amid the summer heatwave.

Not sure how serious the post. Anyone know more?

Just wondering if there is a risk of it being recoverable after the transaction has been completed. I figured it would be stored in RAM and thus unrecoverable after powering down, but I can't seem to find anything on that.

“They came back to us, and they said . . . we believe every asset other than bitcoin is a security,” Armstrong said according to the FT. “And, we said, well how are you coming to that conclusion, because that’s not our interpretation of the law. And they said, we’re not going to explain it to you, you need to delist every asset other than bitcoin.”

I am looking for a wallet I can keep in cold storage (an offline machine) which can occasionally sign txes and have a hot wallet send them. I'm having trouble finding a wallet that supports this. Or is multisig a better way to do this?

Preferably OSS, preferably run on Linux, needs a GUI.

There isn't a way to run a lightning node with the private key in cold storage is there?

This place is looking a bit dead. It seems like lemmy.world has the most active Bitcoin community, so we should probably consolidate our activity there:

After a long wait BTC is back to $31K. I'm really liking this steady growth and apparent stability. I hope it stays like that instead of 🚀🚀 and then 🔥🔥🔥🔥 📉📉

So, i have this Bitsa prepaid card that is supposed to accept bitcoin transfer that can converted into fiat money. I used it two or three times just to have a tool in case. I think i have maybe 5 euro left there, to keep it in use.

All the last week kept asking me to change the SCA code but then it failed with something that look like an https failure.

Today i tried from a computer browser and i discovered that my (fixed) ip is blocked.

So I opened them a ticket, they unblocked the ip and then they asked me to uninstall the android app, reinstall the app and try from that for going on with troubleshooting.

The app is not available anymore in google play for my country

I told them with a screenshot proving.

They counter that the tech support say it's available in my country.

Btw, anyone got an apk ? :-)

I realise this is probably „old news“ already for some of you. But this plus the IMF news is huge for bitcoin!

If so, please explain why. I can only see a boomer idiot clinging to a shiny old gold relic, unable to grasp the nuances of Bitcoin.

Recent news seems to indicate that the two likely scenarios are approval of GBTC ETF conversion or revocation of BTC futures contract approval. Between these two, which seems more likely?

I have spent a good amount of time gawking at Nostr and the posts going on there - with all the zapping and whatnot. Think they just hit a millionth zap or something?

Anyway. Whenever I hear people talk about crypto, I just walk away. Because so far, whenever I read an article about the usecases of Bitcoin or anyothercoin, it is filled with "[could] be used for". But "could" is not "can".

So, I would like to ask here: How do I buy a Cola with bitcoin?

Imagine that all I have is an Android phone, a few Euros in my bank and an absolute thirst - right now. What do I do to pay with Bitcoin to buy me that Cola?

(I know the described situation is a little extreme. Basically, I want to know the fastest, most "convenient" way it is done. Not could - but can.)

The popular app for splitting bills and paying in restaurants in Czechia just added option to pay via bitcoin lightning. They are using an intermediary, but with a very reasonable rate. The pub does not even see, that somebody paid with BTC, they will get their account settled in local currency.

Questions: have you ever cashed out a quite substantial (meaning life changing after paid taxes) amount of money to fiat ? Or do you spend it monthly from your savings using tools like prepaid cards ?

The only time I really spent some crypto was with a bitsa card as an experiment but it was just a couple of flight tickets worth.
