A breakthrough has been reached in the negotiations between Israel and Hamas in Doha and a deal to release hostages held by Hamas and establish a ceasefire in Gaza is imminent, three Israeli officials told Axios.

About 98 hostages are still being held in Gaza, among them seven Americans. Roughly half of the hostages, including three Americans, are believed to be still alive, according to Israeli intelligence.

More than 46,500 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza

"There is a breakthrough in the hostage deal negotiations in Doha. Hamas' military leader in Gaza Mohammed Sinwar gave his OK," one Israeli official said. The indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas reached a critical point over the weekend, one week before President-elect Trump will be sworn into office.

According to the expected agreement, 33 hostages would be released in the first phase of the deal, including women, children, men over the age of 50 and men under the age of 50 who are wounded and sick.

Palestinians would also be allowed to return to northern Gaza during the first phase of the deal. The Israeli official said there would be "security arrangements" to ensure no militants or weapons are moved to the northern part of the Strip.

Hundreds of Palestinian prisoners would also be released, including those who murdered Israelis. The exact number of prisoners to be released will be determined only after Hamas clarifies which of the hostages to be released are alive, the official said.

U.S. District Court Judge Benjamin Beaton appeared skeptical of approving a police reform agreement between Louisville Metro and the Department of Justice during a hearing Monday.

The city and DOJ signed a proposed consent decree last month. The decree lays out hundreds of changes to policies and training that the Louisville Metro Police Department would have to undertake in the coming years. The agency’s progress would be overseen by Beaton, as well as an independent monitor.

In a lengthy hearing, the attorneys representing the DOJ argued the consent decree is necessary to address the pattern of unconstitutional and discriminatory policing practices outlined in a scathing report released two years ago. The DOJ found racial disparities in how LMPD officers enforced the law, as well as routine use of excessive force against residents.

Beaton, however, repeatedly asked whether some sort of other “less intrusive” arrangement could also get LMPD to comply with federal law.

In a letter sent to legislators today, Healey asked to add a mandate to the law that would limit shelter to those who prove they have been in the state for three months. Applicants would be required to verify their “identity, residency, and status” through documents or “physical presence in the state” prior to being approved for the system and placed in an emergency assistance shelter.

I finished Max Payne 2 today. I didn't realize going into this how much Max Payne had setup for other Remedy Games, specifically Alan Wake. The in-game show Address Unknown has so much in Common with Alan Wake II such as the evil double, alternate reality New York, and the implication of a "Next Level". it's uncanny.

There was also the in game show Lords & Ladies, which i would be lying if i said i didn't stop to watch every episode I saw.

I also liked how it had you switching back and forth between Max and Mona, and also had missions where you had to escort the other. It did it in the right quantity where you were being forced into a escort mission every 5 minutes. Having to cover Max with sniper fire as Mona was especially fun, and seeing how their stories met up was awesome.

The boss fight was also a lot of fun, i was expecting it to be a rehash of the first game's, with the Spike crushing the boss and that's the end, but actually being able to fight him was a fun experience, albeit a little hard because max was always two steps away from death.

The game had some really pretty reflections too. I assume this uses the old flip the world for the reflection trick, but it's done really well, i honestly couldn't tell if it was or not (though i don't know what else it would be using)
