ATT fiber just rolled out to my neighborhood so we're switching to that from Comcast.

Our bill had apparently gone up so we were paying $110 / month for I believe 600 or 800 down but we get significantly less than that.

With ATT it's 1Gig down for $80

I think it's just up to if that's something you enjoy and gives you value then it's worth it.

I'm similar with books. I personally prefer to read ebooks because I find the experience a lot easier and better, but there are some books or authors that I really enjoy so I like to get the hardcover books as well. Some books I have both digitally and physically even though I've never read the physical copies but I like and enjoy them so I keep them even though they "collect dust" as you say.

If you are thinking of paring down or downsizing, mayve just think of what games are really special to you and that you find meaningful to keep.

To be fair, they've basically said they would not like to stay permanently defederated and are just waiting for the proper mod tools or whatever else they need to keep up.

They are having trouble keeping up with the large volume of people participating in their communities and moderating this huge influx of new users. When most of their workflow is apparently coming from these other servers I think they're justified in defederating.

Yup, I also have an account on Beehaw but I've been switching back and forth since the local feed on this instance hasore traffic. I've found the community to be a lot more pleasant over there though

Is there a way to block an entire instance in Lemmy like you can with mastodon? Or to just hide all the posts from them?

This thread has made me realize how insufferable they are

Actually that's basically what it says in the first paragraph

the United States and its allies should not support a cease-fire or peace talks to end the war in Ukraine until Kyiv gains strength and can negotiate on its own terms

Basically saying Ukraine won't be pressured to accept a peace deal until they're in a stronger position

The down side of that would probably be duplicated content. Like if some major news happens for a topic reposts can already be really annoying and usually need moderator action to combine threads. Then there'd be that times however many communities exist for that same topic.
