The post suggested if you have the PayPal offer in your Google Pay to spend $3 and get $10 back, you can show your support to the developer of Sync by paying for 1 month subscription.

The developer of Sync get the money, PayPal give you money. I get nothing out of this. I'm simply sharing a deal available to me and some other people.

You can buy a 1 month subscription in Sync for Lemmy and use the difference for something else, like a gift card. It's a good way to support the developer without costing you anything.

I'm from Australia. Not sure if this deal is only available to those down under.

I did not receive the offer via email but I saw it under Payment Method in the Play Store. I have PayPal linked to my Google Wallet but never made a Google Play purchase with PayPal as I have Google Play credits earned through Google Rewards.
